A 1983 graduate of East Carolina University, Tom spent 30 years at Food Lion serving in various roles - retiring as SVP of Merchandising in 2013. Since retiring , Tom spends the majority of his time doing volunteer work throughout the state.

He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the ECU Medical and Health Sciences Foundation , serves as Vice President of Meals on Wheels , is active with the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and supports several other non profit groups.

Tom and his wife Clarissa have three adult sons and have been blessed with three granddaughters. Tom is an avid hunter, enjoys traveling, and loves cooking… often looking for ways to mix these three together.
