2019 December Clay Farm Road Hunt

December 14th completed our last Dream Hunt at Clay Road Farm for 2019. Of the 5 hunters our HOAS selection committee picked, 4 of them had never shot a deer. All the hunters seen deer that morning but held out for a nice buck. After a catered lunch we all headed back with our guides helping where ever needed. By night fall 3 of our hunters had shot does and two of hunters shot their first deer.

We would like to thank those that sponsored a hunter in 2019, as you can see everyone had a great time and we certainly appreciate your generous support. Hands of a Sportsman is excited to see what next year holds and continue our mission of helping those taking on some of life’s toughest challenges!

SPONSOR A DREAM HUNT

2019 Sawtooth Hunt

Hands of a Sportsman was honored to help with the 2019 Sawtooth Oak Farm Hunt in Stanly County N.C. It’s a disabled hunt put on by the Barringer family in conjunction with the NWTF and the Wheelin Sportsman.

This year they were able to host 68 hunters resulting in 61 deer being harvested over a day and half. We’re proud to say that some of our board members, mentors and volunteers helped out with this hunt by volunteering, guiding one of the selected hunters or helping with our booth. Additional thanks to their entire community, landowners, sponsors and volunteers that continues to help this hunt grow every year.

For information about next year hunt on December 4 & 5, 2020 follow them on their FB page @Sawtooth Farm Hunt or Instagram @Sawtoothhunt

LANDOWNER DONATION

SANTA COMES IN CAMO

Growing up in a single family household there was things that took priority over buying a new bow for your son. From a young age I realized how hard my mom worked to pay the bills and make ends meet. Around the age of 12, I was introduced to archery by a friend of the family. I was so excited every time I got the opportunity to shoot a bow or any bow!

A few years later my mom finally saved enough money to buy me a brand new Darton bow. I can tell you I was in heaven and shot almost every day. Fast forward to present  I was scrolling through social media 3 months ago and saw a post from a friend about their yard sale. In the picture was two used bows. I sent him a message and asked if I could buy them because I wanted to fix them up and give them to some deserving kids for Christmas. Long story short, I ended up receiving 13 bows, 2 crossbows and a pile of accessories to outfit every bow including brand new targets in 3 short months.

As you can imagine it’s hard to find a deserving kid to match the used bow but so far we have given out 8 bows and we’re on the look out for the remaining kids. Big thanks to Hands of a Sportsman for helping pay for some of the items, those that donated money, bows and accessories and last thanks to Walk on Archery helping with the targets and Grafton Archery helping with the bows and setups!
