Growing up in a single family household there was things that took priority over buying a new bow for your son. From a young age I realized how hard my mom worked to pay the bills and make ends meet. Around the age of 12, I was introduced to archery by a friend of the family. I was so excited every time I got the opportunity to shoot a bow or any bow! A few years later my mom finally saved enough money to buy me a brand new Darton bow. I can tell you I was in heaven and shot almost every day. Fast forward to present I was scrolling through social media 3 months ago and saw a post from a friend about their yard sale. In the picture was two used bows. I sent him a message and asked if I could buy them because I wanted to fix them up and give them to some deserving kids for Christmas. Long story short, I ended up receiving 13 bows, 2 crossbows and a pile of accessories to outfit every bow including brand new targets in 3 short months. As you can imagine it’s hard to find a deserving kid to match the used bow but so far we have given out 8 bows and we’re on the look out for the remaining kids. Big thanks to Hands of a Sportsman for helping pay for some of the items, those that donated money, bows and accessories and last thanks to Walk on Archery helping with the targets and Grafton Archery helping with the bows and setups! ~David Hinceman |
